What makes a good birthday party game

A birthday isn't a family outing — it's a group of kids who may not all know each other well, with one clear goal: everyone has fun, together, at the same time.

That's a different job than a regular escape room. Birthday formats need a host to keep the whole group engaged, room for up to 16-20 kids, and a story simple enough that a shy 6-year-old and a confident 10-year-old both have a good time.

From what age, and how many kids?

From 5 years old, and from 6 kids upward for our team games — with Pulse Up available for smaller groups too, scaling up to 12 in combat mode at Monumental for bigger celebrations.

Unlike a standard escape room, these are guided by a host throughout, so there's no risk of a group getting stuck or losing interest halfway through.

Picking the right game for the group

The party favorite: Pulse Up. If you've seen a glowing floor game all over TikTok, this is it — the original Floor is Lava, brought to life with an LED floor, a leaderboard and 40 challenges. At Monumental, two identical rooms (room 1 and room 2) mean groups of up to 12 can play in combat mode, split into competing teams. It's the pick that gets the whole party talking.

Youngest kids, mixed confidence levels (5–8): Enchanted Creatures is cooperative, not competitive — nobody "loses," which matters a lot at this age. Alice and the Key of Time is the gentlest escape room option if the group wants a story to follow together.

Classic party energy (6–10): Magic Elf Mission turns the whole group into a team of elves working through mini-challenges together. Secret Agents adds a laser maze and a spy mission if the group wants a bit more action.

Older kids who want competition or something different (8–12+): Rune Clans splits the group into two teams racing to steal each other's rune. Hiding in the Dark is a different kind of challenge entirely — a sensory game played in complete darkness, unique in Barcelona. Not for kids who are afraid of the dark, but a big hit with adventurous groups.
